Default quick review (kinda long): Vogtland Coilovers

so i wasn't happy with my Koni/Stasis Streetsports for awhile. A bit too soft, and underdamped for a fat pig like the ones we drive...and being an Avant didn't help in those matters. So I looked into PSS9's, KWV2's, Stasis Tracksports, and Vogtland Coilovers. I wanted a firmer ride...something more sporty, with much less body roll, and eliminating the porpoising that the SS had going over dips at higher speeds. Being that I didn't want to drop $2k on a suspension, and hearing good things about the Vogtlands (Tomasz, Imola Rocket, and of course.....the legendary S4Madman's review of them)...I went ahead with the Vogtlands. Mike from Pure Motorsports was every helpful and I HIGHLY recommend them!! =) Now...although they are NOT valving adjustable, only ride height...I wouldn't mind as long as it delivered the improvements over the Streetsports. Cyrus at JC Autohaus did the install and alignment. This guy is really a pleasure to watch. His professionalism, knowledge, and attention to details is priceless. After the install and some height adjustments (I am currently at 25.5" all-around), as well as all-wheel alignment.....I took the puppy home. First thing I noticed is that though much firmer than SS...the ride is sooo much nicer imho. Firmer, the slop is gone, and the car on smooth roads is even smoother than the Streetsports. Through the freeway onramps and curves...the car is much tighter. Less body roll, allowing for more spirited driving. Over bumps and uneven road surfaces...the ride can get slightly on the harsher side...but nothing that you can't live with. Right before I get home...there is a couple set of dips where my old SS would porppise over them at 40 mph. With the Vogtlands...going over at 50...the car stayed stable and the stiffer srpings and valving really shined. The spring rates for the Vogtlands is 670 front and 630 rear as oppsed to the Streetsports which have 450 front and 390 rear....if I'm not mistaken. Anyways...I am extremely happy with this setup. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a firmer, more aggresssive street-setup that will handle the occassional trackday as well. Honestly...I think this is how the S4 really should of came from the factory. Just my .02 cents

caveat: I live in SoCal so the roads are much smoother in comparison to other parts of the country (say Northeast ie, Boston, Philly, DC, and of course NYC which has THE worst roads EVAR) and needless to say if you live in any climate/region where you do have real winters and as a result, harsher roads like Detroit, Chicago, etc. I think the Vogtlands are perfect for a place like SoCal, or Florida...but perhaps may be slightly rough for those other aforementioned regions. Then again...it is subjective...and how much you can tolerate would be up to each individual and his needs. I personally would still prefer the Vogtlands > SS even if I still lived in the NYC area.

Thanks again to Mike at PureMS for these Vogtlands. They are truly great to deal with.

Front passenger Vogtland installed. OOh....sooo nice and shiny! ;P

Default I'm thinking of going PSS9s myself. The Vogtland COs sound awesome, but I like my allroad height. :)
