As some of you know i have sold my Autospeed Dual and replaced with AWE Twin2. My review has no personal dynographs and is based merely on sound, fitment, and butt dyno.
I received a lot of emails with a lot of questions as to why i was selling the autospeed so fast, what i liked/disliked, and what other exhausts i was looking at. Here goes... My car is a 2002 s4 avant with tiptronic, with apr 93/bipipe/710n. I have driven on both exhausts for relatively the same number of miles, ~400. I have also met the owners of both companies and can vouch for doing business with either. The cliff notes of my write up is simple...Listen to it before you buy it, in a car with same cabin layout and tranny. SUBJECT - Drone The Twin2 catback produces ZERO drone throughout the entire rpm range. When it is cold and started for the 1st time there is a slight hint, but once i put her in Drive it goes away. The ASP Dual has a lot of drone under 3000rpm in any condition. Very bad when under heavy load. Heavy load means you are cruising in 4th, traffic slows and you are still in 4th. then you try to accelerate in that same gear without downshifting. My impression in hindsight is that the #1 cause of drone with autospeed on my car must be the tiptronic; the system loves to live under 3300 rpm, where drone is promonent on most exhausts. #2 cause is the location of the 1 muffler near the rear of the car and a mid resonator. Wheras the twin2 has 2 mufflers; one in the rear and one in the mid section. #3 cause of the drone was the cabin of the avant. Many other ASP owners in sedans have claimed zero to little drone. Most have emailed me and said "Not as bad." My recommendation is to listen to it in driving conditions before you buy. Not parked in a driveway revving either. QUALITY AND FITMENT Both are excellent. the tips are very similar as you can see in the pics below. I am not a welder so i cannot talk about the quality of the tig welding or the mandrel bends. to my eyes they both look sexy out of the box. tips on both look awesome. I had the 75mm on the asp. The Twin2 has more polish look to it whereas the autospeed has a matte look when comparing the two. The Twin2 stick out a little more than autospeed. maybe .25 inches more. not really a noticeable difference. SOUND Twin2 sounds almost stock under 3500rpm. you start to hear a hint of somethng more and then it just starts to growl at 3800+. This is from the inside the cabin. On my way to AWE this weekend, CTAUDIDUDE said my car with twin2 sounds awesome when i accelerated down the highway. ASP dual, besides the drone, is a tunnel hunter. It sounds like a full race exhaust. I also heard the AWE Twin1 at the AWE gtg this weekend and I can conclude that shoppers should be comparing Autospeed to Twin1, not Twin2. to me, the autospeed is louder than even Twin1. If you are the type to pay a toll just to blast through a tunnel then asp might be the one for you. But for me daily use was too loud and the drone was numbing my ears. BUTT DYNO I felt more hp with Twin2 because my car seems to accelerate easier from 100-130. You can ask CTAUDIDUDE about this. I tested a couple times on my way to PA. I felt more torque with autospeed under 100mph. but I didnt feel the same brisk acceleration during 100+ as i did with twin2. I cannot confirm whp numbers. CONCLUSION The twin2 was the perfect exhaust for me, but we all have different preferences. I often times have clients in my car and after a client, gf, and friend asked me "why is your car so loud?" i had to switch. if it were a dedicated track car i would not have had any issue with asp dual. Its a great thing that we have a lot of choices for exhaust systems. I hope this will help future shoppers evaluate which is right for them. Below are pics of Twin2, Autospeed, and links to twin2 video clips revving at idle recorded with same camera. Both taken on same camera. all for me. I can't justify $1,100 VS. $600.00 for mere sound. I am a big fan of the UUC also. Just my dumb opinion. Did I mention I have bad hearing also? Really I do :-/

between a pair of quality 2.25" dual exhausts, let alone measure it, unless there was something very wrong with the construction of one of them.
