Default APR 5.0 A-Box Stage 1 First Impressions (93oct).........

Meh.

I used to have a GIAC chip in the car and the grunt that it gave you at any time in any gear is really missed here - Talking about the low RPMs.

Smoothness is definitely there with this chip as it feels smoother than stock in 1st and 2nd gear (probably from the aid in boost in those gears).

However, the car feels like it has a good amount of lag to it .. Almost feels like a chipped 1.8T.

Once it gets going it is fast and smooth as any chip I suppose. I didn't get that ****-eating grin with this chip that I'd thought I would get.

I am happy with it as I only paid $500 for a complete ECU (which is important to me as I have an aftermarket warranty - shhh).

All in all not bad, but I would prefer GIAC or ABT/AMS.

Default Sorry to say, but I told you :-/

APR is faster than stock, but the feel of AMS/MTM just aint there. Feels more like a turbo engine (complete w/lag and all) where the others make it feel like a bigger torquier engine.
