Default Ok... So let's talk about internals again... With the ASP kit at, 630chp/653Tq, on 93... Race Gas?

What will this do on 100 octane? 700 cHP? 700cTq?

When do these blocks start flying apart?

When do we start twisting rods?

Who's gonna be the guinnea pig?

I love it!

Default What a great new era! I think we also have to give consideration to trannys and axles now... :)

Default Maybe this is the start of a new string of innovations for the platform. Say hello to resale value!

Default I was trying to poll the masses on this awhile ago based on simple chipping and engine problems....

other than turbos. No one responded so I dropped it. I actually had a cylinder head problem after chipping. I understand it is rare but who else has had engine problems when modding. It would be interesting just to see what develops.

Default Never heard of anyone having head problems from a chip. Did you buy your car used?

Default You're the only one I remember with head problems after chipping, so it could have been bad luck or

a coincidence.

Only other head issues I've heard of involved timing belt trouble or massive overheating. I also recall a few being replaced for a misfire at idle issue.

Default IIRC, the 5cyl Audi turbo blocks and other parts were good for 900 cHP. Group B rally.

Default WHP * (1 + Drivetrain Loss %) = CHP is an incorrect and commonly misused equation...

It does not properly calculate drivetrain loss. The amount of power lost through the drivetrain is a percentage of the crank horsepower, not a percentage of the WHEEL horsepower. Mutiplying the WHP by 1.28 (IE, 28% of the WHP) is saying that you are adding 28% loss of the WHP number back to the WHP number. When a car is on a dyno, it looses 28% of it's crank hp which produces the numbers at the wheel. That percentage of the crank power is what you need to add to the WHP number.

In order to properly figure loss, you need to find what 28% of it's crank horsepower is. In order to do that, you DIVIDE by what the WHP represents. If 28% loss is what the WHP is, then it is actually represents 72% of the power generated at the crank.

The proper equation is 492 / .72 -or- 680hp at the crank.

Debaters welcome.
