Default Anyone have/see the new beather/spider hose? Whoa!

For my 2002 6spd:
I broke mine as I was disconnecting hoses to pull my engine. Without much force at all, it snapped. Upon trying to get a replacement, the local dealership didn't have the P/N I was asking about, but they noted it was superseded by another, then another P/N. They did have the current one in stock so I went down to pick it up. To my surprise, this hose now has all sorts of heat insulation on it. I wonder if my hose broke because it became brittle with heat.

Here's the broken part of my hose:

Here's a partial shot of the orig hose (I'll take other pics when I pull it off):

And here's the new hose (078103235R):

Default I broke/replaced mine about a year ago - but got the same old style part

I will I could have gotten that one. looks like Audi made some prudent improvements. I recall paying about $70 for the old style version. How much was that one you got?

Default Would you please post the part # for this new assembly, thanks! And you are 6-spd manual, correct?

IIRC, the spider hose is not the same for tip and manual tranny.

Default updated/yes, also newer/older years have different style as well, likely based on manifold style (?)

Default Looks to be a few $ more (~$10)

IIRC, when I called the dealership for the other one, they said it was $122, and this one was $133. Online, I saw $86 and $95, I believe.

I forget which of the prior letters went to which model/tranny/etc, but nonetheless, here were some:
J, B, G, L

Default you guys are lucky that the allroad/A6 is furthering 2.7t development...

or at least the manufacturing of spare parts.

Default :-) Funny you should mention that.

That was one of the reasons I originally bought my car back in 2000. I figured that they were using the engine in the Allroad, so since it was also in a "regular production" model and not a limited S model that at least there would be available parts and ready knowledge to fix it. Doubt this will be true for the new crop of V10 S cars. i.e. harder to get parts, and less knowledge of repair.

Default not bad logic at all :)

one of the reasons why A4 1.8t engine spare parts are so cheap is because of the multitude VW Passat wrecks

for example, used ECUs run about $150.
