Looks very Fishy.
I find it hard to believe that all these problems we see is caused by a loose wire. <Edit> The size of the lead looks alot larger than its relatives near by. Might be becuase that path could be loaded by currents higher then the rest ( durring regular operation ).. if the wire did get too hot, then I could imagine seperation from the pad would be very possible. The factory looks like it has placed two leads in parallel to adress this higher current/temperature issue ( if my hypo is correct ). Also being under some silicone goop isnt great, since it probably insulates the wire from being able to transfer hear away. If anyone has a module willing to donate, i have the equipment to test this out. ( ultra fine solder, wire and iron )

I took some EE classes as part of one of my degrees and I don't feel comfortable screwing with that, given all the small gauge conductors, when I can pay $250 and have it fixed *right* by modulemaster.
Strangely, I don't have the same reservations with mechanical ****. |

I have seen many chips on our prototype boards fail from static discharges so small they can't felt by the person who caused them.
You can get a wrist strap from Radio Shack or other suppliers; at the very least keeping touching a grounded metal object while you work.
