ASP says their billet housing is 85mm, AWE doesn't state size. Does anybody know the size of the AWE one? They look almost identical in the pics, so I'd assume it's close.

I believe someone said it was 102mm at the sensor, but it has a 45 degree step so it starts at like 78mm and steps up, two totally different designs. It depends on what software you'll be running. If you're going homebrew stick with the ASP one.

IIRC, the ASP MAF starts at ~78mm (which is the max possible using the stock airbox) and gently tapers out to 85mm.

Like others have said, AWE's is stepped and ASP's is tapered to fit the stock box but you have to modify the box before it will work correctly.
I ran crazy rich when the ASP MAF was mated with an unmodified stock airbox fouling my plugs and clogging my Delphi's. I have since made a custom 99/60 so the airflow could be straighter before it reaches the sensor. I know most stage 3 cars are using modified airboxes so this may be true with more MAF's than just the ASP. I'm just recalling from experience. |

As we've been preaching forever, the turbulence originates *before* the MAF, which is why a laminar screen or cone filter helps smooth out the MAF signal.
The step is our housing is not the problem as you yourself have seen by having issues with a "stepless" design. Thanks for sharing this info with the forum.
