Default Tip for making windshield wipers work better

Was talking to a buddy of mine who works for GM and I mentioned I needed new wipers for my car. He told me to take rubbing alcohol, wipe down each blade and then set it back on the windshield. The alcohol softens the rubber and allows it to re-seat to the windshield.

I tried this yesterday and last night we had a rain storm. This technique worked like a charm. Wipers are like brand new again.

Quite possibly the stupidest thing anyone has ever said (from Beemer forums)

Default yes, however if you do this too often

the alcohol will eat up the rubber...

Because sometimes its just dirt debris a grease and not necc a bad wiper, I use a scraper on the windshield when I wash the car to avoid this altogether

Default Mine last for at least a year if I wipe them clean at every gas fillup using...

a simple paper towl moistened with the water which is available to wash your windows. Just wipe the blades a few times until all of that black grime comes off.
