Default GIAC 3- ECU testing (part 2)

I now have about 250 miles on my new 3- setup with GIAC 3- (K0411x) ECU and 5 bar FPR and stock fueling. Very nice to drive, pretty smooth with some extra power over my 2+ setup. Top end much stronger than my 2+ config. Looks like reasonable option for easy out-of-box stage 3- operation without MBC for mechanically challenged fellows like myself. Also, puts me in a good position for future Stage 3 fueling upgrade.

Ran some boost curves against RHP plot with VAG and Gtech, looks like 16 to 17 psi across the board with no wild boost deviations.

Default nice job, but can you do the same thing in 70-80 deg so we can see the diff on K04s

I know 70-80 deg may not come for some time.

Default It doesn't get that warm in Seattle, But I will try...

Just kidding, will need to wait until July or so for 70-80F. If you look at my picture poster, I take data all year long so stay tuned. The link at the in my post at the top of this thread has data from my 2+ setup, all around 40F. About 40 HP ave difference over my 2+ setup.

Default Re: GIAC 3- ECU testing (part 2)

Achtuning is scheduled to R/R the same set-up with my car on Dec. 2. GIAC think? I have 2000 6sp Imola Yellow with 54000 miles, all stock. This GIAC X set-up sounds like what Josh was proposing. With the new K04s, I bought APR dp's, Milltek dual exhaust, rs4 clutch. Since my car is a 2000 with Bosch MAF, I hope I don't run into problems. Might be worth it to go Hitachi. I noticed Bruce had the intercoolers upgraded. I am using my stock intercoolers. What kind of power differentiates the two. All parts are in, and I'm counting the hours to Stage 3-. The man that holds my fate is in Australia.

Achtuning is doing a Stage 3- on my S4 on Dec. 2, this looks and sounds like the same kit Josh D is proposing. Achtuning is also installing APR dp's, Milltek dual exhaust. My car is a 2000 6sp so it has a Bosch MAF. I'm tempted to get a Hitachi MAF overnighted to me on Monday to avoid headaches. We had talked about the GIAC stage 3-kit before he left. From the looks of these tests, I am very excited. The man that holds my fate, is in Australia.

Default I am running GIAC 3- ECU. You will need Hitachi MAF and 5 bar FPR to run this.

The GIAC 3- ECU config requires M ECU config. I got my GIAC 3- software from Evolution Sports in Kirkland (talk to Mark, say Hi from Bruce). You can run with stock IC's, especially over the winter and change out later if you prefer. For approx WHP change ~15 HP ave for new IC's check link below. I am very pleased with this 3- setup, lots of fun!

You can also just run straight GIAC-X config with MBC and TCD or MBC only. For this, should talk to RSform (Cable) or Imolavirus (Jacob) in our area.

When is Josh back from Australia?

Bruce

Default Might want to get Bi-Pipe, Snub Mount, and RS4 mounts while you are at it.

I think he gets back on the Dec. 2 I drop the car off at Achtuning this coming Thursday. By the way, your car is sick! It just looks scrappy. I was in last week and I saw your car just when it came off the lift. I'm glad everything worked out good for you. I'll be satisfied if I could get those numbers. My name is Kent D. I live on Whidbey Island. Evolution Motorsport? I didn't realize they could hook me up with GIAC X programming. Thanks for the information.

I have a AWE reinforced TBB, F-hose, & APR snub mount. Good call on the RS4 mounts, I'll have to acquire them in a hurry. I hope he has them in stock!
