Default Stage III B6 S4 vs Stage III B5 S4 on the top end...

B6 S4 top end video

In this video, it takes about 23 seconds to go from 120-160 mph using 5th and 6th gear.

Watch 4:10 into this video is a 120-160 run in 6th gear only.

It takes the B5 car about 11 seconds. TORQUE!

EDIT: Here is only the 6th gear pull video clip.

Right click save-as

I wish I was able to run the B7 RS4 up to those speeds to gain a benchmark there...but I assure you it's closer to the 23 seconds than the 10 seconds. ;-)

B5 is still the king.

Default Really exhibits the effects drag has on using up horsepower that's otherwise needed for acceleration

Plus that B6 was a Tip, so of course it's slow! The B6 and B5 both take about the exact same power to go the same speed, so comparisons related to drag are pretty easy. I'll venture the B5 took more like 11.5 seconds to do what took the B6 23. So acceleration was twice as fast. At 120, both cars require about 115hp to overcome aerodynamic drag. At 160, both cars require about 275hp to overcome aerodynamic drag. So a rough average of about 195hp is required to overcome aerodynamic drag over that range. If that B6 has 380hp peak, and more like only an average of 350hp available over the RPM range it was using, that only leaves 155hp left for accelerating. If that B5 has 500hp peak, and an average of about 480hp over the RPM range it was using, that leaves 285hp left for accelerating. Combine that with about 300 less pounds on the B5 (which is still about a third to a half of the restriction on acceleration at those speeds and power levels), and it makes for the B5 being about twice as fast over that speed range than the B6.

Default Uhh... B6 "Stage III" isn't much in relation to what we call it on the B5...

B6 Stage III apprears to consist of an exhuast, downpipes with high-flow cats, and a bit of dyno tuning.
