Default GIAC 3- initial RHP testing impressions

Finally got my upgrade completed from GIAC-X stage 2+ to GIAC 3-. Thanks to Achtuning (Josh), Evolution Sports (Mark), and Jeff Moss for making this possible. Car drives very well and is very much stronger on top. Feels like a different car! Very happy with it. By the way, my old K03 turbos which came off after 83K (77K chipped) looked to be in pretty good shape, despite the whistling noises after cold starts.

Ran a few Gtech HP runs to compare to previous K08x and L038x GIAC stage 2+ ECUs as well as a stock ECU in 0+ config (see pic). Gained about 40 RHP average over FATS 4200 to 6500 RPM range from going from 2+ to 3-. It looks like to me that K0411x (GIAC 3-) is based on older GIAC code line as it has similar HP curve shape to K08x ECU and not smooth HP curve like L308x. I will need to run some more tests with my VAG to check plateau region around 4K RPMs in HP curve. This looks similar to overboost TC behavior I saw on K08x HP curve.

Bruce

Default When I was 3- with APR beta K04 software, I'd pull 3 car lengths 50-90 on APR Stg. 2+ and MTM Stg 3.

That's a bunch of distance for a 5 second long race, and it was in large part due to having software tuned for K04's.

Default Happy to help out Bruce! Looks like everything must be running great! :)

Have you messed with adjusting the FPR at all? Looks like it must be pretty close to where it is supposed to be.

Default Have not messed with FPR setting. Looks close to 5 bar. Is there way to tell with VAG?

Default Does yours come up slow on the boost ramp-up? I am diagnosing one and wanted to know if the code

or car is the culprit. Thinking car but it has that funky TB action like one of the newer X codes where you think you go WOT and then see the TB gradually going to 100%. Any info/help appreciated...

Default No unfortunately, wish there were. Need a gauge on the pressure side to determine.

I'm going to have to get an in-cabin gauge(have a rail gauge) to monitor mine... going to do some fuel supply stuff soon(on the stock 4B setup and some pumps).
