Default For the archives--> How to (with pics!): Stock B5 S4 front brake pad replacement

There are a few how-to's out there...but some refer to the tech section for B5 A4, some are just paragraphs with no pics for the B5 S4.

So today, I swapped out my HPS pads and put on my stock pads while putting my winter wheels on. Thought I'd take some pics and post them on s4girl.com as a sort of how to. All pics at the link below.

Who says girls don't get dirty?!?

This is the easiest DIY in the world. After you take the wheel off it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes.

Default HPS are street pads, why swap them out? Also, a set of jackstands

is a very wise investment...

Default Ahh, I don't like gloves. If I can't get the grime out of my nails I just paint them before work! ;)

Default My reasoning...

I'm a track n00b...only ever running 3 track days this season. I used the HPS for all 3 sessions and did fine with them.

Next season I'm going to need to buy new track tires. Figured if I put my stock pads back in, I'd save some life of the HPS and could salvage another track day out of them next season before having to buy new pads too. New pads are next on the list as my skillzzzz develop.

Oh, and I have jackstands...but this DIY is VERY fast. I've done it lots of times, and know my jack is in good condition. No need, in my opinion. But can never be too safe, I suppose!

Default HPS pads are barely adequate for the street, definately not good for the track!

I can't believe you didn't fry them on the track. Just use em for your street pads, don't bother to put them in for the track. Get a set of the Hawk HT-10's for the track.
