Default I put the new APR Stage3 code to the test on the Dyno, and it passed with flying colors....

************************************************** **********************************

The high level overview is:

- The new 93 oct software makes equal power to the old 104 oct software!
- The new 93oct code has up to 70wHP gains over the old 93oct code at various RPMs.
- The new 104oct code makes an additional 30wHP over the old 104oct code for most of the useable RPM range.

************************************************** **********************************

I dyno'd as follows...

Mods: APR Stg3 T-box, APR DPs & Exhaust w/testpipes. Standard OEM airfilter. 4th gear
Dyno: Dynapack 5500

93oct, Stockmode
93oct, Prod v1.2 (2 pulls)
93oct, Beta BV (3)

*drain 93 gas, put in 104, reprogram*

104oct, Prod v1.2 (3)
104oct, Beta PA (3)

************************************************** **********************************

Ok, now let's see what it looks like! I'll link you to some specific comparisons below, but feel free to play with that dyno webpage to compare whatever you like... I'll try to keep the order below showing new code as blue...

Old 93 vs New 93:
320 HP/355 TQ Mods:APR Stg3 93oct Prod v1.2, APR Exhaust & DPs, testpipes
349 HP/364 TQ Mods:APR Stg3 93oct Beta BV, APR Exhaust & DPs, testpipes
Comments: New 93 code adds at least 25wHP, and up to 70wHP at higher RPMs

http://www.xxtuning.com/dynocharts/dyno2.php?Data1=1|1|1|136&Data2=1|1|1|139
Note: the power difference below 3200 RPMs was due to how boost ramped up on the dyno between these two runs. Looking at all of the dyno pulls, both codes on average were the same down low. It was just this one new code run that happend to have lower boost during ramp up.

Old 104 vs New 93:
345 HP/388 TQ Mods:APR Stg3 104oct Prod v1.2, APR Exhaust & DPs, testpipes
349 HP/364 TQ Mods:APR Stg3 93oct Beta BV, APR Exhaust & DPs, testpipes
Comments: The new 93oct code is equal to, and more powerful than, the old 104oct code!

http://www.xxtuning.com/dynocharts/dyno2.php?Data1=1|1|1|141&Data2=1|1|1|139

Old 104 vs New 104:
345 HP/388 TQ Mods:APR Stg3 104oct Prod v1.2, APR Exhaust & DPs, testpipes
377 HP/391 TQ Mods:APR Stg3 104oct Beta PA, APR Exhaust & DPs, testpipes
Comments: The new 104oct code gains an additional 40-50 HP over the old 104oct code

Now let's do some math to see where we end up. I will do this from a couple approaches, each of which has it's own pros and cons...

Since we're now talking about peak values, I'll list the peak values I saw for each dyno pull (the ones posted as graphs had the best overall curve, not necessarily the best peak value)

93oct, Prod v1.2 --- 323, 320
93oct, Beta BV --- 344, 346, 349
104oct, Prod v1.2 --- 347, 345
104oct, Beta PA --- 383, 377, 384

1.) "Assume Stg3 stockmode with full exhaust makes 270 cHP"
I previously dyno'd *identical* to a stock S4 with an exhaust, which is likely in this 270 cHP range. See here:
http://www.xxtuning.com/dynocharts/dyno2.php?Data1=1|1|1|9&Data2=1|1|26|65

Based on that, today I made 226wHP on stockmode. 226/270 = 0.837 (16.3% loss)

Using that, we see the following:

93oct, Prod v1.2 --- 323/0.837 = 386cHP
93oct, Beta BV --- 349/0.837 = 417cHP
104oct, Prod v1.2 --- 347/0.837 = 415cHP
104oct, Beta PA --- 384/0.837 = 459cHP

Okay, those seem a bit low for sure, so perhaps my reference stockmode is making more crank HP than the 270 I guesstimated. Now let's take a different approach...

2.) "Assume the old 93 program made the claimed 412 cHP"

Based on that, if we use 323/412 = 0.784 (21.6% loss, a bit high for a Dyna Pack)

Using that, we see the following:

93oct, Prod v1.2 --- 323/0.784 = 412cHP
93oct, Beta BV --- 349/0.784 = 445cHP
104oct, Prod v1.2 --- 347/0.784 = 443cHP
104oct, Beta PA --- 384/0.784 = 490cHP

These numbers actually seem more reasonable as the Prod104 program comes up as 443, similar to it's 452 claim. I think this 2nd approach is probably closer to actual values, but quite honestly I'm more interested in the curves and the relative differences, not so much a single peak value.

************************************************** **********************************

Peak numbers aside, APR B5S4 Stg3 code is known to kick ass on race gas. Now that APR's new 93 code is equal to their old 104 code, that says A LOT.

And then of course, if specifically comparing old and new 93 code, well then you are seeing upwards of 50wHP increases for most of the higher RPM range (the range of 5000-7000 is what's used when doing a multi-gear acclerating run).

And naturally, the new 104 program adds another 40-50 HP over the old 104 program.

************************************************** **********************************

Very cool APR - I'm impressed!

Default Sweetass! Seems like more timing up top on 93 and more boost across the board on 104. Correct?

Glad you guys can finally enjoy some good power. w00000!

Default Kudos to DAP for creating this awesome Dyno webpage for XX Tuning!

Be sure to check out the "Ranking Page" and "Search Page" as well!

Awesome job again, Dave!

Default Can this code be purchased seperately from their Stage 3 hardware kits?
