Default PLEASE help with headlight aiming....

Since I've installed Ecodes, my headlights are so out, it's not even funny. I've got no idea how to aim them properly. I swapped all parts one light at a time, and they looked good, just not aimed. Then I played with one of them, and rotated it just a little bit (as I read a post where a guy thought the bulb might be in upside down...?? and now one bulb appears VERY blue, compared to the other. I guess I'll turn it back? I dunno what the hell's going on. My brights light the trees above me as I drive by. Also, if anybody's got experience wiring the city lights, I'd appreciate it....I've searched, nothing as usual. Thanks, guys.

Default Re: PLEASE help with headlight aiming....

I've going through this same issue. I would go the dealer and have them adjusted. They have a special machine for this. Good luck!!

Default PITA if you have never done it before. i had a lot of problems with mine

the bulbs need to sit perfectly in the housing ( i.e. not upside down) otherwise you get no projected light, just an illuminated housing.

iirc the wire from the bulb should aim towards the drivers side on both.

Default the wire on the bulb should face down.

Default does the cutoff appear sharp & well defined, but in the wrong place? i.e. too high?

or does the beam cutoff look funky and curved.

funky usually means the bulb is not aligned in the socket properly.

you know there are adjustment knobs on the housings, right? the white plastic 6mm hex key jobs? one is easily visible (vertical adjustment) on the inner side of the housings. the other, i think you need to access through a pear shaped hole in the fender on the outer side of the housing (horizontal adjustment).

don't turn these too far in either direction. you can strip the plastic threads.

also, you did move the self-leveling motor? or have the shipping plugs still installed, right?

just wanted to check.

Default Okay here are some simple quick aiming tips!

first park your car like 15~20ft away from a wall on flat surface, do one side at a time.

Do driver side first, adjust the center of the beam level horizontal(try 24" off the ground) as the ground pointing straight ahead, then do passenger side, on the left side of the beam line it up with driverside

__/--- __/---

and then turn the passenger side aiming to the right a little bit like 5 degrees.

you can start with that first after adjustment you will need to use a vag to recode the auto leveling. I believe it is in tech section.

Hope that would help
