Is it worth the extra money? Car is mostly street driven with a few track days.

In this case you get faster revs, but the car will sound like a trundling deisel thanks to flywheel chatter.
In my case the chatter seems to come and go. Some days its almost unnoticable, and some days the car sounds like a cement mixer mixing gravel at low revs and medium/high throttle application. I'm not sure why its not consistent but it probably has something to do with ambient conditions, temperature of the tranny fluid, angle the car is sitting at, etc. I'd say you have to really think about what your goals are for the car. For all out performance get the LWFW. If you want to keep the stately and luxurious daily driver characteristics of the car, then skip because it WILL chatter and the chatter is annoying. I think I'm too far down the performance path to care about noises and such now, so I'm happy with what I have and harbor no regrets. But if I had a second S4 or the chance to do it all over again I'd probably stick with a stage 3 Clutchmasters with a stock flywheel over my current setup. Now that would rock... 2 S4's. One for ultimate performance, and one for ultimae daily driving! Sometimes I wish I had more cash!

I recently drove someone else's S4 and thought something was wrong with it, rev-matching between shifts was like driving an old moving van. I was having thoughts like "Are the plugs shot?" "Injectors clogged?" "WTF is wrong with this motor?!?!?"
"Oh, stock flywheel." Sure, I can make mine chatter... if I floor it at 1200rpm in 3rd gear.

You don't need to lug the motor - there are many instances where you get chatter during daily driving.
For example, coming to a near stop when making a turn onto a side street - you're in third, downshift to second and slowly make your turn - if my AWE LWFW is spinning less than ~2000 rpms, it chatters as I slowly accelrate out of turn. There is no way in hell I'd shift to 1st in that situation, second is the correct gear to make that turn and it chatters. It's not horrible but it is annoying at times and it's really important for people to realize this happens in many daily driving situations. You don't realize it until you get it and then you'll change your driving style to minimize it. Everyone who thinks about getting one should spend some seat time in a car with a LWFW to see if they can deal with it. Not a 10 minute drive, but a good 1/2 hour with someone who can demonstrate when the chatter occurs. It is misleading that this chatter only occurs if you lug the motor. |

I think the gear chatter depends on how worn your tranny is. I find myself constantly blipping the throttle to match revs, and at lights.. just to hear the exhaust
