Default What do I need to safely run K04's with RS6 comp wheels? no money for software or injectors yet...

Right now I have K03's on the car with MTM stage III software and a 5 bar FPR (for hose that don't know, stage 3 is their term for this software, it's not stage 3 in the sense that it's meant to go with K04's). I gutted my precats and I have an autospeed exhaust. I am putting in my newly rebuilt K04's with RS6 compressor wheels and need some help. To begin with, I assume that the software I have with the 5 bar FPR won't be enough. I expect that I will need to get injectors and new software but in the meantime, while I put some money together, I will be running the car with my current setup and the K04's. From what I've seen, people put boost controlers on their cars and limit the pressure to something like 17 psi. In my case, since I have that MTM stage 3 chip with the 5 bar FPR, I think I would be able to run more boost but still need to limit it correct? Give me some input please.

Default run it like it is with just the N75 and no mbc.......see what your afr's are like

then start playing with the mbc to increase boost.

Default You might only be able to run 15psi or so with that setup...

Airflow might max your fueling at a lower boost #. You have to test it to find out.

Default Won't it start retarding the timing if I run it the way it is since it won't be getting enough fuel

therefore become lean and start pinging? The 5 bar FPR alone won't deliver enough fuel as far as I know.

Default there should be enough headroom in the mtm software as long as you don't increase boost.....

but log to make sure

Default But won't the stock injectors max out at a point since there is more air flowing now?

I've seen my chip hit somewhere around 24 psi. I don't think that anything good is going to happen if my K04's (especially with the bigger RS6 wheels) hit that pressure. Isn't fueling always the problem with running bigger turbos on these cars?

Default if your K03 chip is running 24psi then yeah you're going to have to crank boost down

i have doubts though that the software is preforming correctly though if you're hitting that boost level....i can't see MTM requesting that boost level on even K04's.....K03's there is no way it should be.

Default correct me if i am wrong but his car should be throwing at least one code

if his boost is ever seeing 24. i would think a deviation code would be in order at the very least, and if it is for any length of time at those boost levels i would imagine the car would go into limp mode.

Default on K03's it definately shouldn't be seeing 24psi.

Default I set my MBC to DEFCON 1 and saw 23psi spikes back in the day :o

It did a couple 12.6's in the quarter before shattering the turbine impeller due to harmonic stresses Definitely not a good idea if you like your K03's. Needless to say: I really didn't
