Default If you were going to build an engine from the ground up, what would be in it?

I'm just talking about the internals of the engine - not turbos, etc. The goal would be maximum breathing and strength to take big horsepower.

Here is my initial list:

* RS4 block
* RS4 crankshaft
* Aftermarket connecting rods (but which ones?)
* RS4 pistons (enough I think)
* RS4 or 2.8 heads (which offers the most potential?)
* RS4 or modified cams

What would others do differently?

Stephen

Default Hmm....price barriers?

1)Aftermarket crank(there is supposed to be a forged stroker available).
2)S4 block(I don't buy into the smaller main web windowing being very beneficial with the rs4 block)
3)Arrow rods.
4)JE Pistons.
5)2.8 heads
6)SDR cams(duh! ;-) )
7)Head studs
8)Lighter valvetrain components(maybe even to the point of going mechanical lifters/cams from Cat).
9)RS4 oil pump

Default From Someone .. way smarter than me..

I beams are only less popular in the aftermarket becuase of the extra operations required to machine them.

from a strenght/ mass i beams make the most sense.
