Default Carbon Fiber Vented hoods and water

What happens when it rains or when you want to wash your car and you have a vented hood? Are you guys not worried about the cold water hitting hot part of the engine and cause problems? Hot exhaust manifold and cold water can cause cracks in the metal. I'm curious to see what people do and what they think about Vented Hoods?

exhaust mani and turbo. That is just stupid!

Default It looks like none of the vented hoods in your post have vents near the exhaust manifolds...

And all underhood connectors have rubber seals. I imagine that as long as one did not take a pressure washer and spray directly into the vents that everything would be ok.

Besides, you're supposed to wash the car when it is cold. :-)

Default What do you think happens with a stock hood when rains? People hit puddles, some folks ride without

wheel liners, etc., and no one has reported a cracked manifold due to incidental spray.

If you are truly concerned, plug up the vent with a rag.

Default I don't think rain would actually cool the manifold enough to cause a crack...

especially if the manifold and turbo heat shields are still in place. I think it would have to be raining REALLY hard. Still, I wouldn't take mine out unless I was at the track, and it was dry.

Default Well, supposedly and don't quote me on this. The new SDR hoods are going to have plugs for the...

holes so when it rains or you are washing this doesn't happen. Contact Funk or nomore for more info. as I'm not 100% positive. But it was mentioned. Late

Default i still think it is a terrible i dear if you care about your car. If metal is hot and rain is cold

It will crack simple.
