Default Anyone figure out how to get the RNS-E to look like the other surrounding trim....

Gandolf the white I thought was going to post some install tips...

But I am just waiting to see if anyone has figured out a way to get the unit to match the surrounding trim?

Thanks

Default I believe some people have used some black Kiwi shoe polish with success!

Default I know some hate Armor All, but it helps blend different shades of black plastic. My headunit didn't

completely match my surrounding trim after it was replaced under warranty. Armor All helped blend it in.

Default Armor All > shoe polish.

Default sry to delay...i matched it pretty close using kiwi method and long sit times

meaning start with few quick apps maybe 30-1hr at first then do longer coats by appling polish then waiting for 24 -72 hours to lightly buff off any residue...after about 6-10 apps it gets really close.

Option #2 being worked out now is to paint match the emergy flaser panel, ashtray panel, and then disassemble the climate control unit and paint it (as its the worst match due to different surface finish)

on fitment of height i just trimmed bottom but it does not perfectly match CC unit as it sticks out a bit so i think i am going to add chrome trim strip similar to A6 (we'll see on that)

on fitment of the sides I have meant to do write up but turns out it is tricky but possible to heat mold them in (i have - twice though i still need to do a little more on the second)...currently more art than science but its possible...another option to be used with heating might be to add piping (out of alcantara or matching color) to hide edges

my install is basically done minus BT module coming this week so i can finally take some pics to give you an idea of what it takes.
