Default Blackstone Oil Analysis Report - 11K miles on Mobil One 0W40

I know, I know... I should change my oil more often, but overall things aren't too shabby for a car with 81K miles on it! I've pretty much always changed the oil at 10K mile intervals too, always with Mobil One 0W40

FWIW, the car was stage 2 (APRv5.0) with stock intake and paper air filter for those 11K miles. The oil filter was OEM as well.

I'd say 90% of my mileage is highway cruising with 10% "spirited" around town driving. There was definitely a bunch of WOT action right up until it was changed. I also used that Chevron Techron stuff about 3K miles before I changed the oil for the heck of it. I didn't noticed any difference though.

Default On the bottles it should have an API Category SL, SJ, SM.

I'm just curious as they seem to be changing rapidly over the past few years. The S4 was introduced when SJ was the standard, but now they are instituting GF-4.

Default oh sorry... Errm... I have no idea... but <more>

I do remember that the last time I changed the oil was right around the time they switched over to the new bottle style. In fact, I remember buying 4 old style bottles and 3 new style bottles in two different Walmarts since 0W40 is always short stocked...

This time around I put 4 new style bottles of 0W40 and 3 "Truck and SUV" 5W40 bottles in. I plan to change the oil once I hit 3K miles on the new turbos and finish up with the same mix for another 5K-8K depending on what Blackstone says.

Default OK. Cool thanks.

I think the new bottle style is SM, and old bottle is SL.

I'm mostly just curious, as it's my understanding the newer service marks are designed more around environmental protection rahter than engine protection. i.e. removing phosporous, and other "bad for the environment" additives, and I was just curious how your 687ppm fits in with relation to the service mark you used.

Default Nice! What interval are you going to try next?

After several attempts, I've settled on an 8000 mile interval on M1 0W40, but I track my car quite a bit.

Default I figure with the upgraded turbos, etc. I should shoot for 5K-8K

I tend to follow the 10K service interval pretty well, so changing oil once between intervals would work out pretty good schedule wise. I think I could probably still get away with 10K intervals though.
