Default Anyone with ANY clue on how to install cams. I could use your help ( *update*)

I need help setting the cams.

(*update*)

the 16th roller on the chain is supposed to line up with the timing keyways. the keyway for the exh side is obvious , but it can lie on either side of the keyway on the intake cam. which is the correct way?

Here is how i have them now:

Here is how i had it once. But unfortunatly they both make sense to me. but only one way is right. Notice the roller positions.

Default I know it's too late for you, but for other DIYers-mark the chains and sprockets with liquid paper

before you remove them from the head. This way you will have something to look at when going back together.

Default it makes more sense once you have the heads sitting on the motor... more..

of course, be sure to have the crank pin properly set before doing this. Without it being in place, you risk tagging piston into a valve.

The intake cam sprocket keyway will clearly match up with the timing mark on the head. After you get that roughed into place, you can use the cam alignment bar to fine tune it by slightly moving the intake cams. You'll see that after trying this that you're "16" count will still be in place though not exact.

I know this sounds kind of vague, but you'll drive yourself crazy if you try to theorize the valve timing events in relation to TDC.
