Default why such big?

85mm should be more than adequate...well unless your name is Mike2kS4 Are you maxing out your MAF sensor?

Default well...

I've read that some have had success with the Hitachi 90mm Lightning MAF so I'm just exploring every option before making a decision.

Default going home brew I guess - nice!!! (I don't think you need such a big MAF housing FWIW.)

Default yeah.. after our discussion, I knew I'd regret staying 3- :-)

but is 90mm necessarily a "bad" thing? I know where I can get one that's very affordable.

Default I'd be concerned about adequate airflow when you're idle...

I'm not an expert but when I've used larger maf housings idle would be wacked out...think of a big lion snoring...that's what the car sounded like. Now I'm not sure if you can sort this out with lemmi or not...but just something to consider. IMO I think the RS4 maf housing is just about perfect, 83mm and plastic (resists heat better). Otherwise the straight thru 85mm housing Jacob built me was perfection...fit exactly into my intake setup (RS4 airbox, RS4 accordian).

Default Too big for 99% of setup...

85mm is the way to go... If you want K24 + Extra Mods (port/polish on heads, etc), you might want to jump on 88mm. Going too big makes the MAF resolution/precision go lower ; you might have some problems at idle...

Greenies are fine with all the setups we tried (K04/K16/K24).
