Default Re: Can any of the experts tell my why only Tip's have secondary air injection?

Tip cars generally have lower engine speeds in those first few crucial minutes of a cold start compared to a manual transmission. This causes more time to get the cat "lit" and start cleaning the exhaust. Air injection helps with all this to lower emissions until things are ready. You may notice Tip cars also shift much later after a cold start. My A6 will stay in 1st gear until almost 2500 RPM right after a cold start even with very light throttle... when hot it will drop into 2nd almost as soon as the car moves off.

Default mmm. I don't believe 1.8t manuals do. My 1.8t did not have the electric blower.

Default That makes perfect sense. I did notice that the Tip shifts higher on the first start.

Default The air pump on my A6 is LOUD. I suspect it will fail soon.

I'm tempted to unplug it before it does and just reconnect it (hoping to preserve it's lifespan) and just clear the codes when my state inspection rolls around.
