Default HELP: Just checked Control Arms and Tie Rods, no movement evident when jacked <m>

I jacked the car up and tried to move around the driver's side front wheel. The only movement I got was when I pushed the top edge of the tire in towards the car, and it was only a very slight jiggle, only a fraction of an inch. It seemed like normal play. I didn't see any cracking in the rubber bushings.

What did scare me was the pictures I took. I only noticed the amount of grease on the backside of the wheels when I came back inside and looked at the pictures.

Does this look like blown CV Boots?

Default How would that explain the 'clunk' he described in his original post though?

Default The CV boots are bad, and the driver's side TRE also looks a little shady to me.

Default Maybe there is enough wear to create play? Just a guess. No flames please..
