Default Easy Clutch question, STFA...is there a way to replace the Throw out bearing without removing trans?

I only ask because my weekend project of installing a new clutch/PP/T.O.B./flywheel/etc got botched due to a coupel that were going to help me got called off by the Wife's. One is still willing to assist, however not sure how long he can. Family is coming in ot visit this coming week and of course road tripping will ensue. Woudl sure be nice to replace the throwout at least if it is easy (relatively) to get to. If not, life expectancy of a bad/goign throwout bearing is....?

currently I just hear the chattering/fluttering on decel and coming to a light with clutch in(which is sparatic at the moment)

Default yes, remove the engine instead ;-)

Here is the throw-out bearing, attached to the tranny which is removed from my car. As you can see, the tranny has to be separated from the engine to get to where the flywheel/clutch/throw-out bearing is located.

Removing the tranny is a lot of work. With a lift and the right tools, expect it to take the entire day (say 8AM-midnight) for the first timer, plus or minus depending on past experience, etc.

got the revoked kitchen pass served. With that and the fact family is coming, worried on my T.O.B. currently just making noise, and engaging gears fine.. I shoudl be OK right?

Default well, if you press on the clutch and feel anything other than smoothness when you first start

disengaging, then it's probably already too late and you'll need a new clutch.

In the pic below, the throw-out bearing is connected to that diagonal piece of metal. At the lower left the metal is hinged. At the top right is where the slave cylinder presses it outwards toward the clutch.

When the throw-out bearing makes contact with the clutch, it is pressing on the fingers of the pressure plate. That causes the pressure plate to release it's clamp on the clutch, disengaging:

I would imagine if the throwout bearing starts to fall apart, then you would have an uneven surface pressing against the fingers on the pressure plate, and not fully releasing the clutch. This would likely cause uneven wear on the clutch and may wear out the disk, pressure plate, and possibly flywheel prematurely

Default Hmmm, ok.. I still feel a relative smoothness most of the time..

So it sounds like I am still in "the clear" for a week or 2 delay correct? I DO have a new clutch/PP/T.O.B./pilot bearing ready to install.
