I now am running extrude-honed and clearanced RS6 hybrids, I previously had K24 and K16 hybrids. Here's how I rated them in various categories.
Driveability: RS6-9 K16-7 K24-6 The Larger Hybrids lose points because of the massive midrange surge they require to make power and a lessened on/off throttle response compared to the RS6. Power: K24:8 K16:7 RS6:7 The K24 is the king-daddy of top-end power but the RS6 and K16 are only a tad behind in boost levels that I'm willing to run. I'm running the RS6's at ~20psi now and am very happy with the numbers logged. The K24 seems to want ludicrous boost numbers (over 25#) that I'm unwilling to run on stock internals and head gaskets. Low end: 3 way tie at this point. The RS6 responds quicker but the other two make more boost at lower turbine and engine RPM's. K24 and K16 act almost identically below 5000rpm the RS6 isn't a low end boost-hog but responds much quicker and can make # in the 20's at around 3k rpm. Other considerations: The K24 and K16 make some funny hooting noises when cold. It's the price you pay for such a large wheel in a small housing. The RS6 is sounds like stock K04's. I'll revise my opinions as I slowly ratchet up the boost on the RS6 'brids past the current 20# at redline to ~22#, but I can say I'm very happy and think they're a great choice for someone after a bit more power and OE driveability. |

Funny thing is: It's not a true hybrid. The RS6 uses the RSK04 turbine

The Extrude hone on the hot-side takes care of it. The cold side could use the smaller housing due to the smaller displacement and higher boost levels our engine runs to make similar power.

I agree about the low end response as well....additionally, they work very well with the shorter gearing I have in my car. IMO the combo is very, very noice.... lots of good power and still very street-able.

most likely my lack of comprehension today... are they a straight rs6 turbo or does he mod them? i ask because you said "made". i was about to get some other turbos to tide me over until my garret goodness is ready and these sound very appealing, any flow numbers to compare with straight ko4s
