Here's the yokos I have now:
Here's the Dunlop racing tires: For comparison, here's michelin PS2s: Lastly, the dunlops in 235/40: From tirerack: "The industry rule of thumb is that for every 1/2" change in rim width, the tire's section width will correspondingly change by approximately 2/10"." So the 255/35 dunlops would have 1.4" wider section width and 1.3" wider tread width than my current Yoko tires. s4gobabygolovesbeer has a good recommendation on the 235 wide Dunlops. The 235 wide Dunlops have 1/2" wider section width than 255 wide Michelins! I'm afraid I don't have room for 0.65" more tread sticking out on each side with the 255 wide Dunlops. I guess I could jack one wheel up and try to measure my current gap between tread and fender.

I would be concerned about the 255's even with your fenders rolled.

i run rolled fenders up front with trimmed liners, and the rear fenders are bone stock. the rears dont rub at all. my car is also very low (25 front and 24.75 rear). if you want no rubbing at all you'll have to roll your fenders pretty heavily and trim your liner. if you're ok with a little rubbing, just go for the standard front rolling job.
when my car's on level ground, you cant fit the tip of your pinkie between my rear fender and the tire, but they never even touch. no sense wasting space :P i can also personally guarantee that you wont fit the 255/35/18 dunlop race tires. i could see my tires being maybe 0.3 inches wider and rubbing on the fender and the suspension upright at the same time. a whole inch wider wouldnt even be close.

BBS CH 18x8.5 rims. These are listed at 10.2 section width at Tire Rack. The other problem you need to consider with a 235/40/18 is that is taller as well...

Wondering because I'd like to get the Hartmann/Achtuning RS6 reps, which are 18x8.5 ET35, but they say that with brand new brake pads they require 2mm spacers (that they include) so that would push the wheels out to ET33. I have worn brake pads now so it would probably be okay, but obviously someday I'll have to get new pads. Thus, I'm trying to decide whether to play it safe with 245/35 or go aggressive with 255/35. Thanks for any input.

Those 235/40-18 race tires of yours that are 10.2" wide, how close are they to sticking out of the fenders? Thanks.

![]() liners removed. Not super low, ~ 25.6" (front). You can't see the tire edge very well with this picture, but this gives you an idea where they sit looking from back. Bruce
