Default First impressions of GIAC Stage 3- X code

Jeff Moss hooked me up with the new GIAC Stage 3- code for my '01 H box last week. I had to recode the ECU as an M box, which is very easy to do thanks to Piggy.

It's been 85-90 degrees and near 90% humidity for the past week or so, not ideal conditions for these cars, but I can say that the car is now the fastest it's ever been. I had 5 people in the car with the AC on yesterday and punched it in 2 nd gear, and they all screamed. (OK, so they were mostly women and children).

I'm getting about 1.1-1.2 bar from Buehn's K03/K04 hybrids (these are K03 turbines and K04 compressors in a K03 housing) with the MBC cranked down. There is no need for an MBC with this code. The boost rises to it's peak and just stays there - no overshoot that I can detect w/o some logging. Jeff says that the available boost is now tied to the injector duty cycle, and when it starts max'ing out, they stop adding boost.

They engine pulls like silk to redline. It's wierd and funny how effortless the power comes. I still giggle every time.

I have some ECUx logs to make, and some LTFTs to measure, but my ECUx installation just stopped working - I get "main write specifier failed" errors, so I'll have to fix that, then I'll be able to post some real data.

In the meantime, if you are running a Stage 3- setup and are uncomfortable with Lemmi tweaks, I would do this upgrade. You'll need a 5 bar FPR to make it work right.

Moss has been super helpful, and is anxious to get feedback on this setup.

My current hardware includes:

K03/K04 hybrids
LaBree DPs
Milltek Super-dual
5 bar FPR
AWE S-flo intake
Forge DVs

Default Small correction:

The boost is not tied to the injectors in the software. We had to limit the boost/power due the small OEM injectors. We tried our hardest by putting on the 5 bar .

I am really glad you like it Ed!

Default Do you need a "real" 5bar FPR, or will a Piggie crushed 5bar work?

Default From jeff's first post about the Stage 3-...

it sounded like they were using a $200 5bar FPR which would imply them using a "real" 5bar. That's only a guess though.
