Default whew - tapped into my cluster for my RNS-E CAN connections

Used a cut up piece of CAT5 cable to connect to the CAN connections at pins 5 and 6 of the center harness for the console. Pre-twisted and color coded, plus its got a jacket - cant beat that. I'll try connecting them to the RNS-E harness tomorrow, i'm spent for today

Default i took plenty of pictures along the way for a writeup. once everything looks to be working, i'll

pick up a two pin connector at radio shack so its nice and easy to disconnect from the harness.

Default the RNS-E unit needs CAN connections to function properly. Some > 01.5 cars dont have the CAN

connections wired into the symphony harness, mine was one of them. So to get the CAN signals, i tapped into the harness behind the cluster.

Default Generally solid core wire is not a good idea in settings with a lot of vibration - ie a car.

Probably won't make a difference but just a thought. In fact it is generally accepted that soldering is not good in cars for the same reason. Personally I do solder wires all the time in cars but I guess you are not supposed to.
