Default Questions for DIY crowd : any tips on installing RS4 Oil Cooler ?

Click the image to open in full size.

Any DIY's out there done an oil cooler themselves ? How does the following look ?

1. Get a *huge* tray. Put under oil-pan
2. Undo plug. Drain oil
3. Unscrew filter & cooler
4. Install new plumbing & cooler under radiator
5. Install new filter (pre-filled with new oil ;-)
6. Use new seal, re-install oil pan plug
7. Refill with new oil (Mobil1 0w40 this time ;-)
8. Disconnect fuel supply (where ?)
9. Ignition On - crank engine for two minutes to let oil pump circulate oil in and air out of new plumbing
10. Reconnect fuel
11. Start engine and idle for a *long* while
12. Test drive watching oil temp & pressure

Anything special to watch out for ?

Default Rest looks ok ? How about pre-filling the oil cooler with new oil ?

Default Eric, how can I obtain a copy of your two current Reels?

Pretty cool stuff!

Default DON'T FORGET THE PICTURE IS WRONG

believe it or not, the picture shows the short hose (drier's side) attaching the wrong way to the end of the condensor. You'll never get it to fit the way they show, unless you want to cut some metal

Flip it around so that the 90 degree elbow ends up attaching to the thermostat, instead of the condensor.

How do I know this? (We only discovered it needs to be flipped around AFTER we had done all this)

We sat an pondered for a while:

Then opted to do it the "hard way":

After removing this:

It now fit ;-)

Default THANK - YOU ! (btw: did you have an RS4 or S4 bumper ?)

I was pondering if it could fit inside a normal S4 bumper.

Default I (and Ryan, the person whose car we were working on in the pics) have an S4 bumper.

You don't need to do anything to the bumper, other than make sure the little rubber flap doesn't block the condensor (just fold it so that it's under the condensor)... it will make sense when you see it
