Default REVIEW: Vogtland COs! :-)

First off, a big thanks to: mike@puremotorsport.com for getting these COs to me in a timely manner. Mike drove over 150 miles on a busy Saturday to get the COs to me. That's first-rate service! The price of the Vogtlands from PureMotorsport is ~$1,125.00. If you're looking for Vogtlands or any other parts, I highly recommend Mike and PureMotorsport. :-)

Abstract: the Vogtland COs are very similar to the H&R Ultras in performance and ride quality but at a street price of ~$300 less.

The Good: very good performance, good ride quality over smooth to moderate pavement, excellent pricing, good quality.

The Bad: a stiffer set-up that's a bit harsh on uneven pavement. Going over bumps/expansion joints at highway speeds, not so good (like just about every other S4 suspension).

The Ugly: none.

Detail: The Vogtland COs for the B5 S4 are height adjustable coilovers. Both the spring and shock are made by Vogtland. The spring rates are 670F/630R. Make no mistake, the Vogtland COs are on the stiff side. If you are looking for a suspension set-up that is more aggressive, more spirited, the Vogtland CO is going to be a very good set-up for you.

The fit and finish of the Vogtland set-up is very good, on par with H&R, Koni, FK. The install was very straight forward, no problems. Adjusting the ride height was easy as well.

Below is a chart of suspension set-ups I have had (with the exception of EF's and the H&R Ultras). I only had about 10 minutes driving EF's Stasis set-up but those 10 minutes, I went through my usual testing grounds and EF's set-up really shined. I've driven many S4s with H&R Ultras so I think I can give an accurate opinion on them.

The rating scale is from 1 to 10, 10 being best and 5 being average. The benchmark is the stock S4 suspension. It gets 10s for smoothness and 5s for performance. Each suspension is rated in direct comparison to the S4's stock suspension.

Overall, the Vogtland COs are very favorable. If you live in an area with smoother pavement and want a more aggressive set-up, I highly recommend the Vogtlands. The minor gripes I have with the Vogtland (like I do with just about every other suspension set-up for the S4) is the lack of valving/compression over bigger bumps.

I am aware that sway Bars, tires, ride height, road conditions all can change the way a suspension feels. I tried my best to minimize these differences and give you my "best estimate". Hope this helps. :-)

Default what is the "Fletcher" setup? How does it differ from standard Track Sports @ 600/700?

Default IIRC stasis did a little extra work on the valving, he has a rear sway set on stiff, and...

...he's got his settings dialed in perfectly.

Default Just ordered Stasis TS but its coming with 700/800. Going on an avant...too stiff?

I'm going to set it up ala "Fletch" if possible.
