Default CPP Upper Control Arms with stainless rod ends>>

I know this has been discussed endlessly here and that numerous problems have been discussed with the CPP adjustable upper control arms - creaking, sqeaking, coming out of adjustment (?) and, in some cases, an almost constant need for lubrication. I notice however that the CPP control arms are now available with (to quote the CPP web site) "stainless steel rod ends made from 17-4 PH stainless, a must if you live in an area where it snows or if you travel to the snow" and that "both rod ends have a permanently bonded PTFE lined inner race, this means the rod ends are self-lubricating".

Has anyone had experience with the stainless steel rod ends? Does anyone know whether the rod ends that people have had trouble with were also supposed to be "self-lubricating"?

Thanks

David

Default unless a track only car - run away - i will sell you my Istook (now sealed) arms for 1/2 CPP price

when on, these arms make driving a dream

everything you mentioned will come true

i learned - it cost me lots in labor

search on ko4north for my posts on Istook upper control arms for my feedback

if my s4 was a track car only, i would put them back on

good tires and suspension will give you most of what you desire

Default Not a problem with the rod end, it is an inclination angle problem...

Guys, we have had control arms for front and rear on the design board many moons ago (2.5 years?) When I first started looking at the concept of an adjustable arm, the FIRST thing I noticed was if you use a STRAIGHT arm and are lowered 1.5" or more you quickly run out of inclination angle, as witnessed by your pic where the washer is coming in contact with the rod end housing. See pic below.

The only way to properly manufacture an arm for the S4 is to take into account the offset created by lowering the car in the first place and neutralize your degree of sweep from that point. ie. the pic below shows an arm offset to 1.5" and the angle of inclination set to ZERO. Now you can have full travel of the rod end with no bind.

We have never made a set due to thinking that there is not a big demand, however now I am starting to re-think the product.

If you guys want. I can make a couple of sets out of 7075-T6 and see how they work. The engineering is sound and I did a quick bump steer analysis to see if the geometry concerning the tie rods would create any additional bind, all systems seem OK.
