i am wondering what taking the head off all entails, meaning tools, time, etc... i know this is a very difficult job but it needs to be done(spark plug threading is stripped) any help is appreciated

it would probably be faster and easier to drop the subframe and pull the head. Special tools -- you'll need the vw/audi head bolt tool -- basically a ribe type bit. It's available online and is not too expensive.

Did not look at the headbolts when playing with cams recently(heads were off the car).
