Default How To: Replacing the Audi A4/S4 Interior Dust/Pollen Air Filter

Originally posted on 4/20/01:

Questions about replacing the interior dust/pollen air filter pop up from time to time, so since I recently replaced mine I figured some other folks might like to see some instructions on this simple process.

I purchased a German-made Mann dust/pollen filter from Adirondack Auto Brokers for $19. This filter came with a small set of illustrated instructions, so I decided to scan the images from those instructions and add some descriptive instructions of my own, the result is the PDF file which you can open or save from the link shown below.

The images shown here are based on the early A4's that don't have the extra plastic shroud in between the two firewalls. The filter replacement procedure for the newer A4's is the same as shown here except that you'll need to remove that top shroud also.
