Default World's Fastest S4 Dragstrip Run -- 11.812 @ 118.38mph!!!

Well, I decided to head on down to Atco Raceway tonight to get some runs in with the new FMIC and ramair intake. On my way to the track I blew another MAF sensor and was thinking the car felt slow... I was getting 0.00 g/s which was pretty odd since I was getting between .042 and .078 g/s when my last one bit the dust. Anyway, I should have known better not to get upset, as Blitz kept telling me his car ran its best times on speed density. :-)

At first, I made a few 12.0 to 12.2 passes @ 116-117, but I was only pulling 1.8 to 1.9 short times. I knew she had at least an 11.8 to 11.9 in her based on the traps. I let some air out of the tires and voila, an 11.98 @ 117.69mph with a 1.76 60ft. On my next run, I tried coming out slightly harder (about 4300rpms) and I blew the clutch away instantly through all of 1st gear. On my last run of the night, I pulled a 1.701 60ft leading to an 11.812 @ 118.38mph!!

I have all of my runs on video except for the last one, the 11.8...turns out my friend was freezing his ass off and went to go get hot chocolate on that run. LOL. Oh well, at least I have the 11.98 on video and the 11.8 timeslip.

Track Vitals:

Atco Raceway, Atco, NJ
Temperature: 32-40 degrees
Gas: 100 Cam2/94 mix
Full Weight including interior, tools, etc.

Keep in mind these runs were all made without any aquamist water injection (I need to get new fittings since going with the FMIC). I guess you can throw R1eater's theory out the window that the only reason my car is faster than his is because of the water injection. I will, however, be needing it if I want to duplicate that 11.8 on pure pump gas the next time out. :-)

I'd like to thank Mark (SilverBullet) and Ant (Blitz) for their help and support. Ant told me I could expect 2 tenths and 2mph with his ramair/FMIC setup. Ant also told me these cars run their fastest times using speed density instead of MAF. Then finally he said that the stuff people were saying about my car having to be re-tuned by Sportec for the FMIC and ramair was absolute nonsense. He was right on the money with everything!

Laters,

Marc

P.S. Running speed density killed two birds with one stone... Not only do I not have to worry about replacing costly MAF sensors anymore, but I also don't have to worry about my "fuel bank too rich" codes that have been driving me crazy. Those put you into limp mode unless you run speed density. With speed density, there are no codes at all except for the obvious MAF sensor voltage too low...

Default Bosch. I'm starting to wonder what would be involved in converting to Hitachi... Thanx, BTW.

Default Congrats! Any more info on the speed density set-up alternative to MAF? TIA!

Default Yeah, all you have to do is disconnect your MAF sensor connector. =)

Default No idea, but Blitz went through the same thing he said...

He'd blow a MAF sensor, replace it, only to have the "new" one go bad after just a couple days. He wound up running his car without the MAF sensor and that produced his best times...

I really wish I could have done some back to back runs with the MAF vs speed density, but I guess that'll have to wait until someone donates me a new MAF sensor since I'm now broke after buying the FMIC/ramair. LOL.

Default Congrats! That's awesome!

But they didn't ask you to leave after running faster than a 12.000 1/4 mile? I was under the impression that cars faster than 12 seconds were required to have a roll cage...
