Default XPOST: Apple iPOD install using AUX inputs is complete in my allroad

First of all, pardon the "intrusion" into your S4 forum, but I posted here a few weeks ago looking for info/help on getting my iPod into my allroad.

I was first intrigued by jyoteen's post about getting the iPod installed, but was a bit disappointed to see the use of an RF modulator. I was able to find a cable that allows you to input a clean source via RCA input jacks in place of the CD changer. Not sure if your S4s have this, but I'd bet it's an option for you guys too.

Anyhow, check out the XPOST if you're interested.

PS. I wanted to get a S4 avant, but family requirements made me get the allroad... in two years the allroad goes to the wife and I plan on getting the new S4, whatever shape it takes.

Default I gotta tell you, it sounds awesome. You should definitely do it. Sell the changer on ebay.

Default believe me, unless you spent thousands on an audio system...

it's pretty much impossible to notice any sound difference. In my car, you have to get your ears to block out the terrible Michelin pilot sports, then the B pillar rattle, the squeaks from the stiffer suspension which just appeared last week from the instrument cluster, and the ever present wind noise.

Default No way, an RF adapter is far inferior to AUX inputs... my wife could tell the diff... and...

in addition, it's not like the AUX input cost more money... it was only $65. Didn't your previous post say that you paid over $200?

Anyhow, don't mean to start a flame war here, but you should consider changing out your input from RF to AUX... it's worth it.

Default Avalon was selling them new for $200

so that means that the fools on ebay would probably pay oh about $400

Actually, $200-250 would probably be what it would sell for (my guess)

Default Hmm.. I wonder if there's a way to not run the mini-jack wire?? (m)

I'm thinking I could take advantage of the preran cell phone wiring as well (since I don't have the Audi cell phone). Just take the Aux input, connect it to the RCA->minijack and rip open the minijack end and attach it to two wires in the trunk that run to the armrest cell phone plug.

From there attach that plug to a minijack via a homemade RJ11->minijack plug and plug it into the iPod neatly stored in the armrest.

What do you guys think?

Default should work, make sure you use the shielded pairs just in case.
