Oil based silicon (dimethal silicon) is bad for your car. It embeds itself into the tire's rubber, prevents blooming, and can get on to your paint, wreaking havoc. Even worse, it is hard to get off your tire once its on. Most retail stores sell this type (ARmor all, Meguiar's, etc)
There are only a handful that use the one that is water based (polydimethal silaxone). This one does not embed, does not harm paint, does not preven blooming and comes off easily. I use Zaino's tire dressing which uses this compound. 303 protectant also uses this. The shine is nice and satin and not too reflective. |

1. apply one coat
2. wipe off excess 3. apply second coat 4. wipe off excess 5. repeat until satisfied I've found this to work great when going for the "wet" look. When you go to leave, no splat... PS. Sorry if this is old news to you.

is the best but....the way most people on this board drive, the tread will wear off before the sidewall is weakend - IMO.

After awhile I noticed the lettering on the tire wasn't as clear. I used a terry cloth rag and literally had to wipe/clean the accumulated gel off the tire. Good thing was the tire looked new after!
