Default Philips Rally(e) 80w H7 preliminary review, small update:

High wattage _clear_ H7 bulbs made by a reputable manufacturer in Germany DO exist, it's a miracle.

I only have one installed right now for comparisons sake, and it's brighter, slightly whiter, but that's expected from the higher wattage. No visible coatings here, thank god.

Photo evidence below:

Stock 55W H7 from Osram .4 ohm cold:

Rally(e) 80W H7 from Philips .3 ohm cold:

Filaments, side by side, NO BLUE, OMG!:

My car had one Philips and one Osram high beam from the factory, weird.

Default Heat doesn't seem to be a problem, but it's only 24F out right now

Longevity might be an issue, way too early to tell, but I trust philips to make a good bulb. My 100/130 Wagner H4's lasted one full year and I drive alot at night, I'd expect these to last as long or longer in a low beam application.

Turns out my passengers side high beam was a Philips instead of an Osram, so I can do a direct comparison of construction. The 80W is the bulb on the left, it has slightly thicker wire for the coil and a bit longer coil, so longevity should be good.

It's not the best picture, but they increased the wattage by thickening the wire, not shortening it:

Another poor picture, camera has a hard time with it, but it is brighter, 80w on left side:
