Here's my new cat-back custom Bullet exhaust system. Here are the details:
16" Bullet Oval Muffler: max-flow, stainless steel, baffled, straight through air flow. 2.5" Naxos round stainless steel exhaust tips, double plated to isolate/minimize heat 2.5" stainless steel piping all the way through, all double welded Total weight of new exhaust system: ~25lbs. Stock exhaust system: ~80lbs. Sound: deeper than any exhaust note I've heard on an S4 so far. Loudness? Louder than the Borla and quieter than a VM2. ![]() Please Click on the link to hear the exhaust: Please note the distances of the microphone. If these sound files do not play correctly, right click on the link and choose Save Target As, save the file and view with Windows Media Player. Custom Bullet Exhaust on S4 Stationery: rev to 4,000rpm, microphone 15' away (Size: 87k) Custom Bullet Exhaust on S4 Stationery: Idle, microphone 5' away (Size: 58k) For comparison: Borla Exhaust on stationary S4: rev to 5,000 rpm, microphone: 5' away (Size: 122k) |

Tips can use a bit more work though.
Other than that sounds and looks great. Any performance differences you noticed?

...response we usual get from people who have an exhaust installed for the first time.
;-) No seriously, just the usual REAL response, accelerator feels more responsive, S4 feels smoother through the rev range. I'm pretty happy with it. No leaks, that's for sure. ;-) |

Just wondering if there was performance difference either positive or negative. It sounds wicked though. If I didn't just have a subtle and conservative nature, I'd probably copy you and get one myself.

...except deeper. Also if I have to go by the good'ol butt dyno, I would have to say yes, it feels a bit "faster" than the Borla.
It would make sense because there's only one muffler, straight through flow like the VM2 and it's much smaller than the Borla mufflers. So again, based on the butt dyno it "feels faster", definitely smoother, less hesitation. I hope I got it right. I spent a whole day there trying dual 3" pipes, dual 2.5" pipes, single 3", etc..., trying to get the best sound and I thought a single muffler 16" with 2.5" single pipe was the best. The Dual and single 3" pipes just took away from the sound. |
