Default Best of my trips to Italy 2007 and 2008

Check this thread often, as time becomes available I will add more pics probably till mid February (I have over 1000 pics to evaluate) comments/critique welcome.

Venice

Doge's Palace in the morning fog.

taken about 15 minutes later after the sky began to lighten up.

detail of the columns taken right after photo 2

Gondolas in the morning

a small canal around 3 am

from my hotel room (which was mad cheap, 60 euros per night for 2 people included en suite bathroom and breakfast)

Gondolas during the day

Same place at dusk

Burano, the island with the most colorful buildings, and where they specialize in making lace.

A building I found interesting in Burano

Torccello, the oldest island of the Venetian lagoon, but depopulated after the plague during the middle ages, beautiful and desolate.

Florence

The Duomo in the early morning I really love the feeling that the 12mm lens gives you of this whole thing.

The belltower

The Dome from the top of the belltower.

Long view showing more of the Church

Panorama of Florence from the Dome.

A coffee shop near the Duomo

Basilica di Santa Croce

Florence at night

Ostia Antica

originally the port city of Rome, it reached it's height in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, where it had a population of almost 100,000. It took about 8 hours to walk through the ruins.

The Theater

The inside of a wealthy household

Rome

The Pantheon. I don't think it's possible to convey the size of the interior short of a fisheye, but I tried the best I could.

The floor of the Pantheon

The Vatican is now open till 4pm in the winter, the change made effective as of this year, most tourist don't know this, as a result you will find the Vatican empty if you show up in the afternoon.

St Peters at dusk

The Bridge leading to Castle St Angelo, originally Trajans mausoleum it's been there since the 2nd century AD.

Temple of Romulus, those are the original doors from the 4th century AD.

The Temple of Saturn in the Forum

Trajans Market

Obligatory forum shot from Capitoline Hill as dusk falls.

The Colosseum at night

Default Holy crap, great pictures.

What camera?
Did you use some kind of filter?
This'll be a stupid question: Did you use a tripod for just the ones shot in low light or all of them?
