Default Making my A3 ride more comfortably

I have two 2005 a3 sportback Automatics. One is a 2.0T and the other is a non turbo 1.8. The 2.0T has a more sporty suspension, low profile tyres etc but it rides in a very sporting, taught way and this is very bumpy and uncomfortable on the country roads around us. The 1.8 has a much smoother more comfortable ride, albeit less sporty.

Will the 2.0T take non low profile, normal tyres? Will this help it have a more comfortable ride? Can I get the suspension tweaked or make any other changes to soften/improve the ride?
