Regarding the Spam in Private Messages problem

AudiWorld will never use the Private Message system to make any kind of announcement, especially ones like we've had reported to us regarding virus, and the like. The only forum administrator who might would be me, and the PM would come from MY account.

If you receive such a PM, please forward it to me, and I'll remove the user and all of their PMs.

I've asked the techies for some way to report PMs as spam, hopefully we'll get such a tool.

Thanks for posting this, Kris. I've actually gotten 3 or 4 of these spam emails and when clicking on the "virus fix" my Norton Antivirus prevented an attack. Be careful.

My method is to simply allow the PM box to fill up. No spam, no nothing. ;-)

There was a guy today who sent me spam - who I just banned

The trick is they do not post messages just do PMs

It has to be more work for them though to do this.

I have been receiving spam to my email address directly they want to pay with cashier cheque for item I advertise to sell, what I do about that now?
I ignore them but I start receiveing them on weekly basis

If you are getting this spam from a PM here at Audiworld - forward the message to Kris or I and we will delete the account of the person.

If it is a direct email to your email account - that is not anything that is the result of AW or anything we can do about. You can just block the sender in your email application

I have a car listed for sale in the Audiworld classifieds, but I keep getting messages and questions in my private email. I thought that was private. There are no messages in my inbox in the classified ads. I do not know if the other messages are legitimate or not. Any ideas, or am I just not understanding how the classifieds work.
