C6 A6- 20 inch wheels, secrets revealed

Recently I decided to do a staggered 20 inch setup on my 2006 A6 4.2 After searching the forum and emailing some guys here with 20's, I realized that offsets for 20 inch wheels are a tightly held secret. Most inquiries end with a referral to certain wheel manufacturers that possess these magic numbers. So for those who need this info here it is. My OE wheel is 17x7.5 with +45 offset, tire 245/45/17 My 20 inch setup RD Sport (Racing Dynamics) RS-5 Front 20x9 +45 offset, 2" standard lip, 245/35/20 tire The rear is a little tricky. All the additional room is on the inside. Rear 20x10 +58 offset, 3" standard lip, 255/35/20 tire- these are Yokohama S drive which run pretty wide. A narrow/rounded 275/30/20 could also fit. This setup fills both fender wells with zero rubbing, even under maximal load. Again wheels look really sharp...congrats.

Car handles and corners close to stock. Barely noticeable increase in understeer at high speeds. Wheels are about 27-28lbs each

i like staggered rims on audis, but i am hesitant due to factory-like durability issues with the all wheel drive torsen system.....is there anything to be concerned about? facts, not hearsay...

6% of one another, the Torsen will be fine.

ABS and ESP should also be ok within this tolerance.

However, a smaller spare tire may present a problem to the Torsen, and safety systems if driven very far at all.

Since the front tires wear faster than the rears, you won't be able to rotate them.

Also, the car will understeer even more than it presently does, so this is purely a cosmetic upgrade at the expense of handling. Quattro Audi race cars run wider wheels up front whenever allowed by sanctioning bodies.

The ideal solution if you want the look, is to run wheels with the same width but with different offsets to create the bumped out rwd look without the downsides. After all, wider rear wheels are first and foremost an attempt to harness power that might not otherwise get to the ground in a 2wd car, or to correct for handling flaws that might make a car tail happy. Neither are issues for streetbound Quattros :-)

I am leaning towards same width....still not sure about getting offset wheels. Most likely going to go with sportec or neuspeed wheels, unless mtm makes something asthetically appealing anytime soon
