The volume control on my radio is acting up. It cuts out when trying to lower volume and acts if I turned the radio off. Wiggle or tap the knob and it turns back on. If I adjust volume with a little side load on the knob, everything seems fine. Does this sound like dust in the switch(alot of little league games recently) or something else? Would some kind of tuner cleaner do the trick and if so would I need to pull a fuse before I clean(radio turns on with or without ignition on)?? Any ideas??
Thanks, Tom

Mine had loud static when it was turned. Had no luck ad disassembling radio and the switch was probably not servicable. Figured I would replace the part but tried to spray DOxit (Caig Labs) in the side of the knob. Static stopped and has been fine for months since.
Tuner cleaned should work about the same. I would just have the radio off when spraying. Can't hurt, Might help. Tony '91 100Q 5spd |
