Can I buy a new flexible printed circuit which hangs off the back of the instrument cluster? If so, from where, please?
Mine has burned up a couple traces. I will try to repair it with 22 - 26 AWG insulated wire, solder, and expoxy, but would prefer a using a new printed circuit. Car is 1984 5000S.

I do not know if you can just buy a flex circuit but if you could find an old cluster that matches yours you may be able to take the flex circuit out of it and put it in your original cluster. I am guessing you want to keep your cluster to keep the odometer orig.

You're correct. In fact, I just bought another used cluster (with a dead odometer), and will probably do as you suggest. Between the two, I'll be able to put one good cluster together.
After assembling a good one, I'll try to patch the broken flex circuit together, and assemble a backup cluster. Thanks for your suggestion.
