Default So lately been smelling that "burning oil/plastic" smell...STFA...

Most likely it is the valve cover gaskets and cam chain tensioner seals as most of my search came up with. Figured I would post some pics anyways and get some feedback.

If after viewing the pictures below and you feel it could be something else that I haven't mentioned feel free to mention it! TIA!!!

FYI: I found two Write-Ups about DIY...if anyone else has one as well, that would be much appreciated. TIA. Also if anyone knows where I can get the parts needed to DIY please let me know. TIA again!

Write-up ONE - absolutcq20v's Fix Your Leaky Valve Covers/Cam Tensioners

Write-up TWO - http://www.robsaudiworld.com/2.8camseal.htm

First thing is first, remove the belly pan
Oooooo looky what I found never good to find fluids on the belly pan...

A closer look...

Quickly jumped to the ground and took a couple shots for your viewing pleasure

First noticed a couple drips...

Followed the steel lines back closer to the engine...

Followed them even further up...

Another shot from where I could see with the camera...

Removed the air system and the plastic covering to uncover the below pics...

Default First order of business is to...

...swap out that suction pump. You want to be sure that the pressure inside the head is regulated properly.

See my sig for a step-by-step

Default If your suction pump was truly clogged and pressure buildup caused the leaks, the seals are gone -

it won't "heal" itself. You will still have to get the seals replaced, but it should reduce the amount of oil dripping immediately.

There were some defects in the heads themselves that might be causing this behavior, but if you have not yet had the cam adjuster and valve cover seals replaced that is likely your issue.

My 2.8L 30V had those seals replaced twice before the realized it was a defect in the head itself - had the heads replaced under warranty and that finally stopped the leak and the awful smell that came with such. (This was on a B5 Passat - same as a C5 A6 w/ FWD; except that VW gave a 10 yr/100k mile powertrain warranty, thank god! The head R&R cost like $5k+)

Default If it's clogged and you replace it, then you should definitely reduce the pressure in the head

Whether or not is stops leaking depends on the amount of damage to the seals themselves. You won't know until after you remove the blockage in the breather system.
