Default Cigarette lighter plug not working on my A6

I checked the fuse diagram that is posted on this site, and the location of the cigarette fuse (which is listed as the same fuse as the footwell light). I tested continuity on the fuse and it was good. Both the front and the rear cig adapters don't have power to them. I turned the car on and checked the voltage, and there is nothing (not even a tenth of a volt).

I even removed the cigarette adapter plug and tested the plug for power, it had nothing. When I bought the car a few weeks ago I tried plugging in my cell phone cig adapter and it never worked, so I didn't think much of it. I just bought a hands free kit and tried using it, and the light wasn't turning on so now I really want to get this working.

So now I have no clue what else to check???

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/42161.phtml</a

Default you have to remove the Cigarette lighter socket. There is a fuse under it.

to remove it you will have to take sides of the capholder out and then unscrew a screw under the cupholder botom cover.

In my post I mentioned that I removed the lighter socket and tested the plug as well. There was no fuse underneath it, so I'm confused as to what you mean. Also, where are the cupholders? Is it those 2 tiny things under the armrest where the factory phone plug is? I am desperate to get this working, so plz give me instructions especially for how to remove the cupholder sides, etc.

Default I am confused.

If you get to the lighter socket wires, you should see the fuse. To get there:

find capholders (under the armrest)
pull the sides (you can just pull them out)
pull the bottom cover on the capholders (again you can just pull it out.
You will see one screw holding the lighter socket box.

Default Re: I am confused.

Maybe we have different model year cars, my cigartte socket is near the gear shifter to the right of the hand brake. The rear cig adapter is on the back side of the center console facing back, so when I pulled the little socket out, there was nothing there but the wire narness running down under the shifter unit. I'll try to take picture when I get a chance, but I'll also try what you suggest.

that's what I was talking about as well, the front one. Is there another one I'm not aware about? Usually cars have them down below the radio and climate controls, but I only saw the one by the e-brake.
