Default HELP!! Gas tank cover won't pop open and I'm almost out of fuel!!!

I can hear the mechanism move when I depress the release button, and I've tried popping it open manually through the trunk but neither operation has worked!

Any thoughts? It's so cold that I think something may have frozen it shut, and I've been working so much lately that I haven't had a chance to deal with the problem during the day. Do you think warm water might do the trick?

I hope everyone here is doing well!

HOT water will probably do it. A hairdrier might also work.

Default They do freeze shut, if you have de-icer trickle a little along the seam being careful to wipe off

paint. Dryer is a good idea if available.

I always just punched the lid with a gloved hand and it opened every time.

Be careful with hot water as if the ambient temp is very low it will just freeze, too.

Ask Kim to sit on it. He's very hot.

Default Single malt scotch.

Pour a little around the edge of the cap and voila! Open cap.

Of course, you can't drive for an hour after that 'cause your TT is "under the influence," but it's a small price to pay.

Other high-alcoholic content beverages will work, but personally, if I won't drink it, the car doesn't drink it

Default Yeah, I realized that a few seconds after I typed it...

It might loosen the lock but then it would probably just refreeze it. Hey, at this point I just want to get a full tank of gas in the car.

I think this or 70%+rubbing alcohol are good ideas.
