Default Has anyone imported an A1 from Germany to the US?

I'm thinking of getting an A1, either directly from Audi or through ABT with some upgrades. Has anyone been though this process yet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

EH? unless you are a diplomat, you are NEVER going to be able to import an A1 unless you wait til the year 2035 when the 25 year import rules lets you.

The only other way you can proceed in trying to get an A1 in the country is if YOU federalize the car with emissions, safety, and crash testing. This will easily cost you in the Millions of $$ to do.

are you ready!?

you may buy one in Mexico and drive across the border, but from there to federalize it well :/

Do you have the resources to manage the crash testing certification for the A1? What about the EPA work? You'll have to have very deep pockets to manage that, and that's just the tip of the iceberg

There must be some way around the 25 year rule as I've seen an A1 in the US either on forums or for sale online a few times. Also that RS4 Avant a while back, among others.
So how do these cars get here?? I would love to know. All diplomats?

Factory cars NOT for the US market are imported as Demonstrator vehicles. They must leave after 2 years or be destroyed with documentation. A1 may come to the US soon. If so, it will be when they facelift the car AFAIK.

Unless it has changed, the time period is one year.
There are a couple of ways to import an A1 but it is not easy and would take a lot of time. Except for a handful of people, it is not worth it.

There are lot of changed happened in Audi world. It's not an easy task to import a car from Germany. Many people try to import it but it takes lot of time and it is not at all worth.
