Default Disabling TPMS

I have an 05 A8 (pre-facelift) and was told by the Dealer that I need to replace the TPMS sensors because of the batteries and would cause around $1K more or less. I have Audi Pure Protection Platinum but they consider these as Batteries and will not cover them.

I want to disable the system instead of spending on something "nice-to-have". Unfortuately I don't have an option in the MMI to disable it. Dealer is saying they cannot do it either (which I think is not right). Can it be done through VAG-COM? If it can be, could anyone please help me disable it since I don't have a VAG-COM?

Thanks!

Dealers wrong! My 2004 A8L hasn't had working TPMS since I brought it at
75,000 miles. I went in and found that the a fuse for system was missing. Plugged in a new fuse and system became active; but would't read sensors.
Unpluged fuse and MMI just shows system not activated. Fuses can be in different places but mine was on drivers side near top right side.
Look in your owner manual.

Default Disable TPMS on D3s

You should be able to disable the TPMS by disconnecting the module or removing the fuse, and then playing with the coding of a few modules. I would recommend unplugging the tpms module rather than pulling the fuse, because the fuse may power up of components in the vehicle.

I will have a 2005 in the show this week, so I will try to do a write up.

Depends on MMI version I think. No option to disable on my 05 with 2740.

Default TPMS Diable

I previously posted the VCDS settings to turn off TPMS here it is again:

If pulling the fuse works for you then go for it, my error did not go away. The proper way to do it is as follows, as I had posted before:

I was so tired of mine showing up on the dash, I tried the fuse routine and that did NOT work. I disabled the unit in the gateway, and re-coded the TPMS (65) to 0202125, which DISABLES the TPMS. Start car, no TPMS nag. If I would have known to change the sensors when I changed the tires I would have done that at the time (exactly 5 years of age on sensors). The Tire Rack has new sensors that are about $89 each.
